2.7.2.4 Globals

The global variables apply only to bullet point votes. In addition, they apply to all bullet votes. These global variables define how many bullets there are for each bullet voting row, what numerical values each bullet receives, and what verbal descriptions the lowest (left most) and highest (right most) bullets refer to. Global fields include: (required ones marked with *)

  • *Minimum Numerical Value: must be greater than 0 and less than the maximum numerical value. The lowest bullet receives this value.
  • *Minimum Verbal Description: verbally describes the value of the lowest bullet
  • *Maximum Numerical Value: must be greater than minimum numerical value. The highest bullet receives this value.
  • *Maximum Verbal Description: verbally describes the value of the highest bullet
  • Increment: must be greater than 0. This number is used as an incremental step between each bullet. For instance, if lowest bullet = 1, highest bullet = 10, increment = 1, then the row displays 10 bullets of values 1,2,3,..,9,10. If the increment were 2, then the row displays 5 bullets of values 1,3,5,7,9.

After starting a new by Points voting period, the global variables are reset to 0. Should the Administrator not set the global variables, an error message appears on the Voting page when a Voter attempts to vote.

2.7.3 History

When a voting period is closed, the voting data is moved to a history table, in which all User, Recipient, Company, and type information is de-referenced and stored by name, as opposed to by numerical id. This way, future changes to Users, Recipients, Companies, etc. does not affect historical data. Historical data is used for reporting purposes and can be accessed through the Reporting tab.
